Whether you’re just beginning your family history journey or have been researching for years, this program will provide practical tools and insights to help you uncover your family’s story.
Presented by acclaimed genealogist Lara Diamond, this engaging session will introduce participants to online and historical resources, research strategies, and methods for tracing Jewish ancestors and the communities in which they lived.

Despite the common myth that most Jewish records were destroyed, many documents still exist. It is often possible to learn about your ancestors and the communities in which they lived over several centuries.
About The Speaker
Lara Diamond began researching her own family in 1989 and has traced all branches of her family multiple generations back in Eastern Europe using Russian Empire-era and Austria-Hungarian Empire records. Her research focuses primarily on modern-day Ukraine, with a smattering of Belarus and Poland.
Lara is President of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Maryland, Director of Subcarpathia Research for JewishGen, and Strategic Advisor to JewishGen’s Ukraine Research Division. She is an internationally recognized lecturer on Jewish, Eastern European, and genetic genealogy and leads projects dedicated to preserving records and helping others discover their family histories.
